First Baptist Church at Fort and Griswold
Description:
View of the First Baptist Church at the northwest corner of Fort and Griswold, known as the second brick Baptist church in Detroit, it was dedicated in 1835 and torn down in 1859. Also have print from negative. Handwritten on print mat back: "First Baptist Church. N.W. cor, Griswold and Fort Sts. 1859. Also showing Sharp's Chop House and Patterson's school." Recorded in glass negative ledger: "D/Churches-Baptist-First."
