Description:
View of horse-drawn parade float for the University of Michigan Triennial County Fair in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Float advertises upcoming raffle; sign reads: "$200, Yale motor cycle raffle, chances 10 [cents], drawing Sat." Motorcycle is partially visible on float. Students wearing top hats ride tricycles in street. Spectators, judges' stand and a "Roman Holiday" float in background. These fairs were held every three years by the Michigan Union, a male-only organization, although fifty different student organizations participated. Funds raised were intended to construct a clubhouse for the Union.
