Edmund J. Copeland posing with refrigeration unit
Description:
View of Edmund J. Copeland posing with an electric automatic refrigeration unit. Label on back: "Public Relations Department. Kelvinator Division, American Motors Corporation, Detroit 32, Michigan. 18583. Like a fond father proudly approving his child, Edmund J. Copeland affectionately views his child, the first practical electric automatic refrigeration unit ever built. It was installed in the home of Joseph T. Schlacks, well known Detroit capitalist, in February, 1918, and was still giving perfect service when it was recently (1931) removed to be replaced with a new and larger unit. Its last owner was Charles H. Hodges, Sr., of the American Radiator Corporation, who now lives in the house formerly owned by Mr. Schlacks. (1931 photo)." Handwritten on back: "Copeland, Edmund J."
