Was in 149 games, hitting .245, and accounitng for 35 doubles, 19 homers and 77 runs batted in. It was said that his semi-pro average in North Carolina was better than .500, and that he hit near .700 in Navy. Hit .307, first proball year (1947). Joined Phillies, end 1948.
