Description:
View of bronze tablet marking the site of the first Capitol Building in Michigan and located in Capitol Park at Griswold and State Avenues. Inscription reads: "This tablet marks the site of the first Capitol Building in Michigan. The corner stone of Michigan's first Capitol Building was laid September 22, 1823 and the structure was completed five years later, it housed the county courts for a time and later was given over to legislative sesssions. The building was burned on January 27, 1893, and the following year the site was made a public park. Presented to the city of Detroit in the month of September, 1926."
