View of a man in the motorboat "Challenger." Printed on front: "Copyrighted 1905." Typed on back: "Challenger was Smith & Mabley's first Harmsworth Trophy contender in 1904. Occasionally fast but always erratic, she was sold to a private party and retired after one season. Clinton Crane used his experience with Challenger to develop Dixie." Stamped on back: "Smith & Mabley, automobiles and auto boats. 513 to 519 7th Ave., New York City." Handwritten on back: "Smith & Mabley 'Challenger' Simplex powered, C.H. Crane, designer. Not very successful. Boats and boating."
