View of a Sargent Clertrac Model A hydraulic snowplow at Wolf Creek Pass in the Colorado Rockies. The snowplows were manufactured by the Maine Steel Products Co. in South Portland, Maine. Printed on front: "View #2. Notice the comparative levels of plow and men. The only way to plow 30' of snow is to peel off a layer at a time. Only a Sargent with its Hi-Lift V and Hi-Lift Wings can do this successfully. With its flexible hookup and its almost unlimited V and Wing Lift, instantly controllable from the cab. It governs the depth of the cut regardless of how much snow is under the tracks. Like the ailerons of a plane -- the tractor is steered upward in a drift by raising the plow V, or downward by lowering the V."
