View of an 1896-1897 Adams-Farwell car. Typed on back: "Number three. 4" bore, 4" stroke. Low tension ignition, make and break. Motor cranked from seat. Made by the Adams Company in 1896-97. F.O. Farwell, designer." Stamped on back: "From the Adams Company, Dubuque, Iowa." Handwritten on back: "1st revolving cylinder engine used on autos. Precursor of the Gnome type of aircraft engine."
