Camouflaged Studebaker Weasel
Description:
View of a camouflaged Studebaker Weasel, a military vehicle used as a personnel and supply carrier. Label on back: "The M-29 (nicknamed the Weasel), a low-slung, square-faced personnel and supply carrier designed for travel over snow, mud and other treacherous surfaces that have thus far slowed troop movements. Chief reason for traction in uncertain going is the low weight of pressure per square inch of ground contact. The vehicle is extremely light and equipped with two broad, rubber-padded, semi-flexible tracks that extend full length. The tracks are powered by a Studebaker Champion passenger car engine located in front and at the right side of the driver. Above: Black and white camouflage schemes furnish the Weasel with excellent concealment against snowy and rocky backgrounds. Stamped on back: "Official U.S. Army photo, please give credit." Handwritten on back: "Weasels."
