View of amphibious vehicles near cargo ship at Le Havre, France during World War II. Label on back: "One of the 'Ducks' nears a freighter, while another makes ready to receive a draft of cargo. Born in the fall of 1942 in answer to the Army's demand for a cargo vehicle able to ferry supplies ashore to inland dumps, the 'Duck' later was used as a personnel carrier and had its official baptism of fire as an assault vehicle in the invasion of Sicily in July, 1943." Typed on back: "ETO HQ 44 20407 15 Nov. Credit, U.S. Army Signal Corps. Photog., Pvt. Seaborne 3120, Channel B.S.
