Rear view of cars turning on rural dirt road at Ledgewood, New Jersey during the 1909 endurance run from Philadelphia to Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. Farm buildings in background. Sponsored by the Quaker City Motor Club, the contest followed a route through Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Stamped on back: "Spooner & Wells, Inc., photographers, telephones 3472-3473 Columbus, 1931 Broadway, New York." Handwritten on back: "Turn to left at Ledgewood for Kenvil. Do not follow trolley tracks here as they lead to Succasunna. One of the party took the wrong road. Tours--Philadelphia to Wilkes-Barre, 1909."
