The one-gallon efficiency contest was sponsored by the New York Automobile Trade Association as part of its second annual automobile carnival. Handwritten on back: "#9 Cadillac, driven by L.R. Burne. This single cylinder automobile covered the greatest distance of any car, 42.6 miles, and won the class of cars costing $850 and under. Tours--New York Economy Contest, 1909."
