View of motorists with car on rural roadside during the 1911 reliability contest sponsored by the Chicago Motor Club. Man stands with foal and horse on opposite side of road. Contestants traveled on routes through Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio and Michigan. Stamped on back: "Spooner & Wells, Inc., photographers, 1231 Woodward Ave., Detroit, Mich., telephone North 1745." Handwritten on back: "Tours--Chicago Reliability Run, 1911."
