Man posing with 1906 Selden car built by court order to prove that the patent covered an operable vehicle. Handwritten on back: "Selden. This is the automobile that was built by court order to prove that the Selden patent covered an operable automobile. The model was built in 1906, mainly by Henry Cave, who may be the man shown with it here. The date 1877 refers to date of Selden's original application which he filed in 1879, declaring he had perfected the vehicle two years earlier."
