During the twenties, an official opening ceremony was held annually at Roosevelt Arch at the north entrance. This picture was taken on June 20, 1923. Since August 1, 1915, when automobiles were first allowed to travel through Yellowstone over a carefully prepared one-way route, millions of visitors have driven to the famous national park to see the wonders of nature.
