Letter from Major George S. Patton to the Marmon-Herrington Company
Letter from Major George S. Patton requesting further information on a military vehicle manufactured by the Marmon-Herrington Company. Letter reads: "June 27, 1931. Gentlemen: Please accept my thanks for your letter of June 22 and also for the interesting photographs. With reference to the latter, the Chief of Cavalry is desirous of obtaining more accurate data, as for example; wheel base, height to top of radiator, turning radius, total useful load, horse power, etc. I presume that all of this data is given in some pamphlet or circular which you print. If this is not the case please give me the information you have outlined. The purpose of this information is to enable us to determine whether or not the vehicle is capable of being used as an armored car or supply truck chassis. Truly yours, [signed] G S Patton, Jr. G.S. Patton, Major, Cavalry." Printed on front: "War Department, Office of the Chief of Cavalry, Washington."
