E.A. Farr posing in front of Cincinnati, Saginaw & Mackinaw railroad depot, Montrose, Michigan
View of E.A. Farr posing in front of the Cinncinati, Saginaw & Mackinaw train station in Montrose, Michigan. Sign on building reads: "Montrose." Printed on front: "No. 21." Label on back: "C.S. & M. railway depot. The building here shown is the Montrose depot of the Cincinnati, Saginaw & Mackinaw division of the Grand Trunk Ry. system. The building, which is wood, was erected by the railroad company upon the completion of the road in 1888. It is a wooden structure 20 x 55 feet in size with a wide platform running around three sides of it. The building is located on Railroad St., conveniently near the business portion of the village. David N. Feller was the first station agent appointed here, the position being held by him until 1892 when the station was made a telegraph office and, Mr. Feller not being a telegrapher, E.A. Farr, of Flushing, was appointed agent, which position he has continued to hold ever since. The American Express Co. has its office located here, Mr. Farr being its agent. The Western Union Telegraph Co. also has an office in the building. The building has a neat appearance and would do credit to a much larger place and the manner in which it is kept by Mr. Farr is pleasing both to the company and the public. The gentleman seen standing on the platform is Mr. Farr."
