Label on back: "State St. This is a view of State St. in Montrose village looking east from the C.S. & M. Ry. track. State St. is the principal business street of the village although considerable business is done on Genesee and Saginaw Sts., and the Montrose hotel is located on Railroad St. Nearly all of the buildings on the south side of the street in the business part of the village are brick, while all of those on the north side are of wood except the Gillam House which is brick."
