This is a photograph of the Montrose Baptist church building. It was erected in 1894, by Wm. Main for a store building and was purchased of him by the First Baptist church in 1898 and remodeled for their use. The building is 24 feet wide, 40 feet in length and two stories high. The auditorium is on the first floor and the second story is used as a dining hall. The church society was organized June 8th, 1885, with eight charter members, the officers being C.W. Bennett, pastor; C.W. Goff, deacon; W.R. Goff, clerk; Charles H. Crane, treasurer. The present membership of the church is about thirty and the officers are Rev. C.P. Miller, pastor; W.R. Goff, clerk; V.N. Mallory, treasurer; Dr. C.W. Goff and V.N. Mallory, deacons. The building is conveniently located, being on the corner of State and Railroad Sts., in Montrose village."
