Methodist Protestant church, Montrose, Michigan
View of a Methodist Protestant church in Montrose, Michigan. Printed on front: "No. 13." Label on back: "M.P. church. This is a view of the Methodist Protestant church located on the Chesaning and Clio State road near the Montrose cemetery. The foundation for the building was erected in 1894 but the building itself was not begun until two years later. The building is a frame structure 30 feet wide, 50 feet long and 14 feet high from the foundation to the eaves. There is a basement under the entire building. The committe [sic] having charge of the work of its construction was composed of the following persons: John Vance, Maurice Dunham and Oscar Gallop. The pastor at that time was Rev. N. Butler, of Clio. The church association was organized in 1890 in Rev. A.C. Fuller and Rev. J.W. Gray, of Clio, with a membership of twelve persons. The present membership does not much exceed that number, and the pastor is Rev. A.C. Fuller. The trustees are Maurice Dunham and John Vance. Being located at the cemetery the building is in much demand for funeral services, and the society is very liberal in offering it for such purposes."
