View of the Free Methodist church in Montrose, Michigan. Printed on front: "No. 12." Label on back: "F.M. church at Elk. This is a photograph of the Free Methodist church at Elk. It is built of brick and is nicely arranged in the interior. The building was erected in 1896, the committee having the work in charge being Fred Calkins, Rev. F.J. Calkins, Homer Wright, Charles Barret, Samuel Nelson and Rev. Roe. The dwelling shown in the rear is the Free Methodist parsonage. The Montrose Free Methodist church society was organized at the Slade school house, in 1896, by Rev. John Elison with eight charter members."
