Methodist Protestant church, Montrose, Michigan
View of a Methodist Protestant church in Montrose, Michigan. Printed on front: "No. 11." Label on back: "M.P. church. This is a photograph of one of the Methodist Protestant churches, of which there are two in the township. It is a substantial brick building and is the largest church edifice in the township. The building is located on the town line road between Montrose and Vienna townships, on section 12. It was erected in 1884, Rev. James Emerick being the pastor. The committee having charge of the work was composed of the following persons: Calvin Stafford, Orvil Reed, William Richards and William Clements. The church association was organized in 1882 by Rev. James Emerick, with about thirty members. The membership probably does not exceed that number now as other churches have been erected in near-by localities which have had a tendency to divide its strength. The present pastor of the church is Rev. J.W. Gray, of Clio. In addition to the church building the society has erected a row of comfortable horse sheds in the rear of the church."
