Sign welcoming Upper Peninsula delegation at Chalmers factory
View of a sign at the Chalmers factory, welcoming businessmen from the Upper Peninsula. The Detroit Board of Commerce hosted a delegation from the Upper Peninsula for two days in Detroit. Sign reads: "Flags are raised over the factory today in honor of the visit of 300 leading business men of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. All Detroit is glad to welcome these men from beyond the Straits and all Detroiters hope that their visit will result in a strengthening of the bonds of trade and friendship which should naturally exist between Upper and Lower Michigan. The Chalmers Motor Company is highly complimented to have Detroit's honored guests visit our factory, and we desire that every possible courtesy should be shown them while they are here. Chalmers Motor Company." Stamped on back: "Spooner & Wells, Inc., photographers, 1231 Woodward Ave., Detroit, Mich., telephone North 1745." Handwritten on back: "Taken during Northerners visit to Detroit, Sept. 1911."
