View of motorists traveling in a 1907 Simplex car through Death Valley. Stamped on back: "Spooner and Wells, 1931 Broadway, New York, duplicates any time, enlargements all sizes, tel. 3472-3473 Col., credit appreciated." Handwritten on back: "Simplex, 1907. In the foreground is nothing but rocks and gravel. This 'wash' leads into Death Valley from the mine down a 10% fall. At this point the Armogosa River sinks and is 320 feet below sea level. We went some ten miles across the Valley and returned on the opposite side."
