Handwritten on back: "Pierce-Arrow, 1905. 1905 Pierce Great Arrow. Model 40-P. 4 cy., 40 h.p., 104" whp. King of Belgium tonneau. (104" w.h.b.), $4000 f.o.b. Equipped with cape top & folding glass front (extra). Official list of occupants during the tour: Mr. & Mrs. Temple; C.E. Wolff, Jr.; & the chauffeur, Mr. Wilson. Note: Car participating in A.A.A. tour, being designated car number 2. Same car as shown in Spooner neg. #4446, also in NAHC/DPL files. Second annual tour of the American Automobile Assn. (First Glidden Trophy Tour), 11-22 July 1905. New York to Bretton Woods, NH & return: 870 miles. Entrant: W.C. Temple, Pittsburgh. Due to the grinding of a cone and the balls of the right rear wheel bearings, the wheels was caused to wobble badly; to remove as much weight as possible from the axle, Mr. & Mrs. Temple finished the last days' journey by train, the car & driver going on to Yonkers & New York."
