View of the dam at the French Paper Co. in Niles, Michigan. Printed on front: "Dam at French Paper mill, Niles, Mich." Printed on back: "This dam was originally built in 1867 by the Niles Hydraulic Company at a cost of $110,000. On March 7, 1883, this dam was washed out. It was repaired and reconditioned at a great expense by the Niles Paper Company and the Michigan Wood Paper Company, now the French Paper Company. Published by Niles Office Supply, Niles, Mich. Natural color postcard made in U.S.A. by E.C. Kropp Co., Milwaukee, Wis. (CEL)."
