Plaque for World War II memorial, Parkside Homes and Addition
Close-up view of bronze plaque for a World War II memorial at Parkside Homes and Addition, located at the southeast corner of Connor Avenue and Frankfort Road. The memorial honors the men and women of Parkside Homes who served in the armed forces during World War II. Inscribed on plaque: "To the glory of God and in honor of the men and women of Parkside who so gallantly served in World War II and these our dead in honored glory rest. McKinnon Cameron, Roy Jackson, George Canning, Harry Moyles, Howard S. Corvell, Andrew Neal, Thurman L. Ely, Bernard Nowick, Stanley Zemla. Erected 1947 by the member of Lieut. Charles L. Stone Post 5314 V.F.W. and residents of Parkside community." Located at Connor and East Warren Avenues, Parkside Homes was the first federally-funded low-income public housing project built in Detroit and Michigan.
