View of no. 3 intake pipes, Detroit water supply system. Printed on front: "11-13-34." Stamped on back: "Manning Bros., commercial photographers. 504-505 Lincoln Building. Corner State and Park Sts., Detroit, Mich." Typed on back: "No. 3 intake removed November 1934, contract RC-27, was constructed in 1890. General view of lengths nos. 10, 12, and 11, and upstream end of easterly strainer box. Length numbers are counted from the outer end toward shore. Length no. 10 viewd from its outer or southerly end, lengths nos. 11 and 12 from their inner, or northerly ends. Distortion from the original cylindrical shape, tears and lacerations probably due to Steamer Conneaut, which stranded here August 10, 1932."
