Rectangular blocks on top of quarter bend are 12" by 36" slabs of cork 2" thick, spaced 4" apart. Purpose is to permit adjustment of load on foundation slab when placed and so prevent overstressing. After screen chamber has been completed including superstructure the 4" channels will be filled with grout. Sheet iron placed on top of cork will prevent filling of grout channels during concreting of foundation slab."
