The Rebel, which has a 327 cubic inch V-8 engine, went into production March 4, 11 days ahead of schedule because of high dealer and customer interest. The car which is equipped with a four-barrel carburetor, develops 255 horsepower. Production of the Rambler Rebel with electronic fuel injection, which will boast 288 horsepower, will begin later. In engineering tests the 255-horsepower model equipped with overdrive accelerated from 0 to 60 in less than eight seconds."
