The landmark vehicle was a red Jeep CJ-7 Renegade model. Governor Rhodes and Meyers addressed a mass assembly of Jeep hourly and salaried employees on the plant grounds following the official ceremonies. Meyers said the four-wheel-drive market in the U.S. in 1979 should be about 1.1 million units, up about 17 percent over 1978."
