First Transpacific flight from Oakland, Calif. to Australia. 31 May 9 June, 1928." Handwritten on back: "Southern Cross, United States to Australia. First stop after leaveing [sic] U.S. Wheeler Field, Hawaii, arrived 9:35 a.m. 31 May - 9 June, 1928. Time from U.S. to Hawaii, 27 hrs., 5 mins. Type of plane, Fokker monoplane. This picture was taken soon as plane landed. Plane carried four persons. Pilot, observer and two passengers."
