Description
View of a man operating a broaching machine for engine blocks at Chevrolet plant in Flint, Michigan. Label on back: "Engine blocks flow down the production line at Chevrolet's new automated engine plant near Flint after undergoing their first machining operation. The locomotive-shaped broaching machine 'shaves' the blocks on three faces, doing the work of nine conventional milling machines. The huge horizontal 'blade' above the line does the job by scraping across the blocks while they are swung into position by big metal 'jaws.'" Stamped on back: "GMP, General Motors Photographic Sections, G.M. Research Bldg., Detroit 2, Michigan."
