The building is also known as the Guardian Building and the Union Trust Building. Medallions underneath the winged figure symbolize industry, agriculture and transportation. Stamped on back: "Grossman Knowling Lehr, 400 Marquette Bldg., Detroit, Michigan. File number 63." Handwritten on back: "Griswold St. entrance."
