Here is the Navy's PBY-5A versatile amphibian built by Consolidated Vultee Aircraft Corporation, makers also of the Coronado, the famed liberator and Liberator Express -- new cargo carrier. Known as the Catalina, this long-range patrol bomber is capable of landing or taking off on land or water. It has a wing spread of 104 feet, length of almost 64 feet and is powered by two Pratt and Whitney motors rated at 1200 hp. Carrying crew of five, they have a maximum speed of 193 miles per hour at 7500 feet and a service ceiling of 16,000 feet. At 10,000 feet, the Catalina covers 3100 miles with 1463 gallons of gas fully loaded." Stamped on back: "Consolidated Vultee Aircraft Corp., Lindbergh Field, San Diego, Calif.
