Description
View of workers adding anchor to amphibious truck at the St. Louis Chevrolet Assembly Plant. Label on back: "A novel nautical air not usually associated with a Chevrolet assembly line, is the result of the conversion of this line from car production to assembly of the 'duck,' or amphibian truck. This photo shows plant employees 'heaving the anchor' in Chevrolet's St. Louis (Mo.) assembly plant. The anchor is one of the final 'accessories' to be added to the Duck, which Chevrolet assembles as sub-contractor of G.M.C. Truck & Coach Division, originator with the Army of this versatile new landing craft." Handwritten on back: "Amphibious vehicles."
