View of men assembling the outer wing section of bomber plane at the Willow Run assembly plant. Printed on front: "5-12-42." Label on back: "Close-up view of one of the outer wing section assembly fixtures at Willow Run. The wing section is assembled in a vertical position. Spars are laid along the base and upper structure, after which bulkheads are fastened between them in parallel row, and the upper and lower skin surfaces are brought forward and riveted to the bulkheads. At the end, the upper structure is rolled to one side and the completed wing panel is lifted out by crane." Handwritten on back: "Aircraft--Bombers (Parts & assembly)."
