View of driver and passenger in Dayton truck no. 14 parked on roadside with front wheels on curb during the 1911 reliability contest sponsored by the Chicago Motor Club. Contestants traveled on routes through Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio and Michigan. "The durable Dayton, world's record truck; 'Mary Ann' the world's record truck from Chicago to New York, 1132 miles in 11 days, the Dayton Auto-Truck Co." painted on truck sides. Stamped on back: "Spooner & Wells, Inc., photographers, 1231 Woodward Ave., Detroit, Mich., telephone North 1745." Handwritten on back: "Tours--Chicago Reliability Run, 1911."
