While they lagged twelve days behind the Thomas in getting to the coast, the Zust crew men were hailed as heroes by a large delegation from the Italian Club in Los Angeles. The Zust had a 30 h.p. motor, a frame filled with soft wood, springs wrapped in cord, and was chain-driven." Handwritten on back: "Won by Thomas Flyer. Races and racing--New York to Paris, 1908."
