View of driver and passengers in mud-covered F-W-D truck. Typed on back: "Of the first five F-W-D automobiles built, one was converted into a truck to compete in test run under Capt. A.E. Williams from Washington, D.C. to Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indianapolis, Ind. This test, run in snow and mud and over mountains in late winter and early spring of 1912, was the first proof that the motor truck might replace the mule as means of transport for the Army." Handwritten on back: "Motor trucks--F-W-D."
