1901 Gasmobile automobile
View of driver in 1901 Gasmobile car, watched by group of boys on sidewalk. Typed on back: "The Gasmobile appeared in the 1900 New York Automobile Show. The company went out of business in 1902. This car was powered by two three-cylinder engines end to end with a common crankshaft developing 35 h.p. Also see Auto Facts, November, 1953. Drawing the rapt attention of six small boys, this mud-spattered forerunner of today's six-cylinder production auto takes to the streets. Can you name it? Its 'futuristic' approach earned first prizes at the 1900 New York Auto Show and the Philadelphia show of 1901, but the company failed in 1902. Its power plant, two three-cylinder engines end to end with a common crankshaft, developed 35 horsepower. It is a Gasmobile." Handwritten on back: "Gasmobile, 1901."
