After 6 wins, and 4 losses, was called up by the Pirates. In 27 games for the Bucs, winning 7 while losing 9. Struck out 57 batters in 128 innings. An outstanding athlete in high school. Captained his baseball team. Had 13 letters at graduation. First experience in organized baseball was with Santa Rosa in 1948. Won 8, lost 5. No. 203 in the 1951 series baseball picture cards.
