Portrait of Mickey Owen, catcher for the Chicago Cubs. Bowman series. Printed on back: "Mickey Owen. Catcher, Chicago Cubs. Born: Springfield, Mo., April 4, 1917. Height: 5-10. Weight: 180. Bats: right. Throws: right. Returned to organized baseball in 1949 when five-year banishment for jumping to Mexico was lifted. Was recognized as the outstanding catcher in the league when he left the Ddogers for south of the border. Was out of majors 4 seasons. Back in the fold, he was traded to the Cubs for whom he hit .273 in 62 games. Began in majors with Cardinals, 1937. No. 78 in the 1950 series of baseball picture cards.
