In his rookie year in majors (1948), Eddie hit .278 in 124 games. His 113 hits were good for 178 bases. Hit 18 double, 13 triples. Batted in 69 runs, scored 57 runs. Began the season with the Yankees. After appearing in 6 games for them, he was sent along to the Nationals. No. 143 in the 1950 series of baseball picture cards.
