Sam Crawford posed in uniform with bat ready to swing. Handwritten on front: "Sam Crawford, C.F." Printed on back: "Samuel S. Crawford, center fielder of the Detroit Club and champion slugger of the American League, played his first professional ball in the Canadian League in 1898. He came to Detroit from Cincinnati during the player war in 1903. As a distance hitter and sure fielder he has no peer. Copyrighted and published by A.C. Dietsche, Detroit, Mich., 1907." Handwritten on back: "Mon. Nov. 16 '08, 5.30. I received Mother's letter this p.m. It has been quite cold here today and snowing off and on. I went downtown tonight and found out about trains going to Cleveland. I can leave here on the Lake Shore at 2.45 p.m. and get in Cleveland at 7.30 that night. I guess this is the one I had better take. Don't you?" Card is postmarked November 16, 1908.
