Voted the most valuable player in the National League in 1927, Paul Waner keeps right on batting them out and stopping them in the outfield. He stays consistently over the .300 mark, but dropped to .390 last year as against his .341 in 1931. He started out to be a pitcher but switched to the outfield when the San Francisco club found itself short in that spot. He has stayed there ever since. Graduated to the National League in 1926 via the Pittsburgh gate and has been a Pirate ever since. Waner was born in Harrah, Okla., in 1903. He is a left-hander, stands 5 feet, 8-1/2 inches high and weighs 160 pounds. This is one of the 1934 series of pictures of Big League baseball stars. Collect the entire series.
