Dan Howley

Dan Howley, manager, Toronto Maple Leafs. Dan Howley, who is now managing Toronto in the International League, has seen service as a manager in both major leagues. He piloted the St. Louis Browns in the American League for three years, from 1927 through 1929; then went to the Cincinnati Club, where he managed three years. Howley was a catcher during his playing career, and a high class one. He began his managerial career with Montreal in 1914. He also piloted clubs in Hartford and Toronto and served as a coach with the Detroit Tigers. He was born in Weymouth, Mass. in 1885. This is one of a series of 240 baseball stars.
