Red Downs
Red Downs standing facing camera, with glove on left hand. Handwritten on front: "J. Downs, 2nd base." Printed on back: "Jerome W. Downs, second baseman, is practically a development of the 1907 season. He was purchased in the fall of 1906 from Topeka, where he had been the star extra base hitter. He bats and throws right-handed and fields brilliantly. Copyrighted and published by A.C. Dietsche, Detroit, Mich., 1907." Circle drawn around description. Handwritten on card back: "Tues. Oct. 27, 08. 5.00p.m. Received your letter this a.m. Will not write today as I have no news. You asked me to tell you the names of the players. They are right above my writing giving history of each one. This one is Downs as you may see. It has been dark, cloudy and sort of chilly all day. Went for a walk tonight. Will write tomorrow. With love to all. E.A.S." Card is postmarked October 27, 1908.
