Printed on back: "Charles Schmidt, Detroit's standby behind the bat, played his first professional ball in 1901 with the Little Rock Southern League Club. His sensational throwing while with the Minneapolis Club of 1905 was responsible for his purchase by Detroit. He is remarkably fast and throws to bases with tremendous force. Copyrighted and published by A.C. Dietsche, Detroit, Mich., 1907." Handwritten on back: "Tues. Oct. 20 '08. I received your letter of the 18 ... and also had one from W. Sterling. It has been much cooler today and has been sort of smoky. Went out to Belle Isle this p.m. with one of the fellows and saw all the animals. It looks like fall out there alright as the leaves are falling. Will write tomorrow. With love, E.A.S." Card is postmarked October 20, 1908.
