Closeup of plaque honoring Henry Chadwick's 1938 induction into the Baseball Hall of Fame. Text on plaque reads: "Henry Chadwick. Baseball's preeminent pioneer writer for half a century. Inventor of the box score. Author of the first rule-book in 1858. Chariman of rules committee in first nation-wide baseball organization." Printed on card back: "Base ball was invented in Cooperstown, New York, by Abner Doubleday and first played in this village in 1839. The National Base Ball Museum and Hall of Fame and Doubleday Field are maintained here as a shrine to the national game. Pub. by National Base Ball Museum."
